The most important aspect of beef production is
product integrity. We at Menalpyn are committed to providing a consistently
high quality, trustworthy product for our customers. We keep meticulous
records and maintain a number of Industry Accreditations to insure
a consistent level of excellence.

| Record
Keeping |
At the beginning of
the management chain all newborn calves are tagged with their dam’s
number and weighed. At weaning all calves are tagged with an electronic
ear tag and our registered tattoo, C 70. All heifer calves that
will continue in our herd and promising bull calves are given their
new management number. Steer calves and surplus heifers continue
to have their dam’s number and their own year letter, and
are sold within 12-18 months.
All this information
is cross referenced and recorded on HerdMaster allowing us to access
the pedigree of any animal, alive or dead, including comprehensive
data regarding its life, in a matter of minutes.
We keep records of all
pasture chemical applications, shifts and veterinary chemical applications
- all of which allow us to prove the quality and integrity of our
cattle, and our meat.

| Industry
Standard Accreditation |
Menalpyn maintains
accreditations to the following industry standards:
CattleCare No. P5000020
 |
Cattle
Care accreditation demonstrates Menalpyn’s philosophy
for product integrity. To maintain this annually audited accreditation,
Menalpyn must keep track of stock movements, responsible chemical
management, and keep records to ensure there are no chemical
residues in either pasture or stock. Cattle Care also incorporates
an animal Code of Practice to ensure welfare of animals, including
handling standards. |
EU - European
Union
|
|
EU accreditation
allows Menalpyn to sell to the EU market. To maintain this randomly
audited accreditation, Menalpyn must meet stringent requirements
for accountability for the origin and activities of each beast.
It is especially important to be able to guarantee that the
animal has no chemical residues at time of sale to the EU. |
ChemCert
| ChemCert is a compulsory
accreditation that allows Menalpyn to buy essential chemicals
to ensure the health and wellbeing of our stock. ChemCert requires
passing grades for several tests, including a practical, and
demands safe, responsible and accountable chemical management.
|
Prograze
 |
Menalpyn is committed
to caring for the stock and land under its control and believes
the well-being of both of these resources is linked to the overall
well-being of the company. To better manage our pasture, land
and livestock we use the principles outlined in the Prograze
course, which was undertaken by Menalpyn staff in 2002. |

| Chemicals,
Cattle and the Environment |
| Menalpyn has a minimalist
attitude towards the use of chemicals. All of our systems are aimed
at producing cattle, and ultimately beef, that can be guaranteed
safe from contamination, produced under humane conditions and of
genuine, premium quality. We use veterinary chemicals for humane
reasons - not for economic reasons - and pasture chemicals to maintain
healthy feed for our cattle. We do not use or endorse using growth
hormones on cattle, and similarly we are very mindful of chemical
applications on our pasture.
